Best Campervan routes on the USA East Coast
Boston to Acadia National Park (Maine)
This is a very popular route with those who rent a motorhome on the USA East Coast. We recommend completing it over a few days rather than rushing through it, making time to stop along the way. Portland makes a good first stop. After that, carry along the coast and stop at small fishing villages such as Camden and Rockport - perfect for Instagram-worthy photographs. Then it's on to Acadia National Park, where you could hike up Cadillac Mountain or head to Bar Harbor to watch the sunrise.
Miami to Savannah, Georgia
This is a massive 800-km drive. Start in Miami, which needs no introduction and is worth spending at least one full day exploring. Cruise up the Atlantic coast along highways that look like something you see in the movies. Along the way, stop at St. Augustine, which is one of America's oldest cities, with a castle and a Spanish feel to it. Once you arrive in Savannah, walk the historic squares and take advantage of the southern hospitality you always hear about.
New York to Shenandoah National Park
This is a route that takes you from the city all the way to one of the best national parks in America. Along the way, make a slight detour to stop at Philadelphia for the Liberty Bell and maybe a cheeky Philly cheesesteak. It's then a nice drive down to Shenandoah National Park, where the landscape becomes greener with roads made for campervan driving. Skyline Drive is part of this route, which offers 105 miles of fantastic views.
Traffic rules for the USA

Take note that the speed laws are different in every county, which can make it tricky if you are constantly driving over state lines.
They drive on the right and overtake on the left.
You can turn right on a red light at most junctions unless it says you can’t (something that takes some getting used to).
Seatbelts must be worn at all times.
Some states have HOV (high occupancy lanes), which are marked by a white diamond shape on the road. This means if you have more than two people in your vehicle, you can use these lanes only at certain hours.
Sites of interest and excursions on the USA East Coast
Everglades National Park, Florida
It goes without saying that Everglades is one of those must-visit locations with motorhome for hire on the USA East Coast. It's a subtropical wilderness that covers 1.5 million acres, full of mangroves and marshes and home to hundreds of animal species. Join one of the main airboat tours and learn about this fantastic area. You could even try an alligator burger as well.
Cape Cod National Seashore, Massachusetts
Cape Cod is the kind of place where time slows down, and your biggest decision will be whether to surf, sunbathe or try a seafood lunch (lobster rolls are practically mandatory). With motorhome rental on the USA East Coast, you can drive along the scenic Route 6, stopping at towns such as Provincetown or Wellfleet, full of great little boutique shops. There are plenty of campervan campsites along the coast where you can stop and enjoy fantastic ocean views.
Baltimore, Maryland
Baltimore is a fantastic place that sometimes doesn't get the recognition it deserves. The harbour is one of the best places as it has the national aquarium with over 20,000 animals. There are historic ships to visit as well as the science centre. You will leave with much more respect for it and understand why it's known as Charm City.
