Handy hints for your trip to Venice
June, July, and August are the warmest months to hire a campervan in Venice, with an average temperature of between 23 and 28 degrees. However, it's common for the thermometer to top 35 degrees, and it can also be very humid, exacerbated by the amount of water in the city's canals. However, the shoulder season—that's April, May, September, and October—also has good weather, but it's a bit cooler, making it more enjoyable to explore the sights. In these months, the city is less crowded with tourists, too.
- A Car-Free Zone
Everyone arrives in Venice over the impressive 3.5 km Ponta della Libertà Bridge, so this means leaving your campervan at one of the designated parking areas outside the city. A different route to Venice is the coastal road via Cavallino-Treporti, which is less busy and offers cheaper parking. From Punta Sabbioni, you can get to Venice in about half an hour by boat.
- Boat Trip
Hopping on a hire boat is not just the only way to see Italy's floating city; it's the best way, and no visit to Venice would be complete without taking to the water. There are informational cruises that detail the history of different areas and buildings, luxurious sunset dinner cruises, or a romantic ride for two in a gondola.
- History and Culture
For many people, the true definition of Venice is the Piazza San Marco, a waterfront square with the iconic domes of the Byzantine Basilica and traditional cafes offering fine Italian foods and wine. Don't miss the Campanile, the basilica's bell tower. Elevators take the strain and whisk you to the top in seconds for incredible views over the city and the lagoon.
