Best campervan routes around Portsmouth

When you take a motorhome rental in Portsmouth on the road, one of the best things to do with your time is to take the time to drive along some of the best routes in the area.

A272 Winchester to Petersfield – South Downs National Park
One of England's most scenic driving routes, the A272 is 90 miles long and runs through the North and South Downs National Park, starting in Winchester and ending in Petersfield. When you book a motorhome for hire in Portsmouth, you can take a trip through the stunning natural beauty of the countryside that makes up the incredible national park.  Although it is not exceptionally long, there is enough to see and do along the way to make it last.
Many beautiful sights can be seen along the way, notably the stunning National Park, which stretches across 1,627 square km. A 100-mile South Downs Way offers dramatic views of the Seven Sisters, chalk cliffs, and sea views.

Lymington to Ringwood via the New Forest
This is another short drive, but one that is worth taking. You don’t need much time to spare in your itinerary, as it takes approximately 30 minutes to cover the full 15 miles. However, that’s not all. There are various routes around this part of the country, but one of them, in particular, explores the settlement and landscapes of the sublime New Forest.
This route takes you deep into the most beautiful parts of the New Forest. Along the way, you pass little villages like New Cheriton and Hinton Ampner.

B3349: Hook to Alton
Okay, so this one is 27.5 miles, and because of this, it is often left off lists of the best driving routes. However, if you have a few hours, you should take the trip from Alton to Hook or vice versa for a real visual and sensory treat deep in the Hampshire countryside.

New Forest National Park
The New Forest National Park covers 220 square miles and has more than 7,000 animals grazing in open forest. The New Forest is home to 26 miles of coastline and 235km of public footpaths.

The beach is close to the beginning of the iconic Solent Way, which stretches the entire length of the Keyhaven Nature Reserve. The chalk cliffs, coastal scenery, and sparkling water meadows make this a stunning place to visit.
